Khirana healthcare and Social enterprise is an organization with an ambitious mission: to positively impact the lives of individuals in Sub-Saharan Africa affected by drugs and associated problems. We achieve this through the deployment of innovative, evidence-based approaches aligned with global best practices. Incorporated in Jos, Nigeria, in 2021, Khirana Healthcare is positioned to lead in providing viable solutions for drug-related problems, health, and other social issues in Africa and globally.
The name “Kerana,” derived from the Hausa word for Cactus (the Cereus species), symbolizes resilience and perseverance. This plant, indigenous to Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria, where the idea for Khirana Healthcare originated, embodies the spirit of resistance. This aligns with our philosophy at Khirana Healthcare, emphasizing resilience – the human species’ capacity to endure, persevere, and survive through challenging times.
Our mission is to facilitate bi-directional conduits between individuals with drug-related problems and organizations/facilities providing services that initiate and sustain the process of recovery. We also believe in empowering communities to actively participate and take ownership of the process of change in addressing drug use issues.

We maintain a comprehensive database of all centers and organizations providing drug-related interventions that operate according to global best practices in Nigeria. This enables us to make informed and bespoke referrals based on the needs and specifications of our clients, with plans to replicate this model across all partner countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.
