Engaging The Parents Teacher Association (Pta) Of St. Joseph’s College Vom (Csj Vom)
Following series of advocacy campaigns at the parents-teachers forum of St. Joseph’s college, Vom, aimed at enhancing collaboration between parents, teachers, and the school management to address the post-pandemic escalating global epidemic of drug use, Khirana Healthcare received an invitation to collaborate with the PTA Executive Committee (EXCO) of CSJ Vom.
The overarching goal of this collaboration was to adopt a comprehensive approach to ensuring that adolescents have a drug-free, safe and enabling environment both at home and in school. This is only possible if guardians, caregivers and educators have adequate knowledge on the subject of drugs. Hence, on the 11th of July, 2022, Khirana healthcare took the initiative to facilitate a one-day sensitization program for the PTA.
Evaluations to assess the knowledge gap before and after the workshop showed significant changes in perception, improved knowledge and understanding. The PTA EXCO gracefully received recommendations on how best to continue supporting the school in its efforts to provide a conducive learning environment for their children. This programme caught the attention of the Jos Archdiocese, which ensured that the programme received good media coverage and was published on the diocesan media outlets.
Khirana healthcare and Social enterprise is an organization with an ambitious mission: to positively impact the lives of individuals in Sub-Saharan Africa affected by drugs and associated problems.
