Partnership Journey with Memoirs of Recovery

Khirana Healthcare maintains a longstanding collaborative partnership with Memoirs of Recovery (MORE House). MORE House is an organisation with a residential based abstinence programme with a strong spiritual focus on recovery, while employing evidence-based approaches. MORE House stands out for its unique offerings, including treatment, jungle outreaches, life coaching, and sponsorship, providing complimentary services within our collaborative relationship. Our shared passion originates from a common history with substance use disorder, driving the establishment of both organizations.

Our stories of recovery and healing hold a beacon of hope for individuals still struggling with substance use disorders. Our model is simple, we reflect through our lifestyle, that recovery is possible. We remain relatable and accessible to problematic drug users, which makes them comfortable enough to engage and share. This has been the secret to our success with the initiation of cognitive behavioural therapy especially, Motivational Interviews and helping individuals identify with their phases in the cycle of change.

A major success in our collaborative effort is the referral conduit we have invented. Khirana provides preliminary assessments, including comprehensive laboratory diagnostics (especially establishing urine toxicology profiles), and uses this data to inform the referrals to MORE house. The residential programme at MORE house then houses our clients for a minimum of 3 months and we work together to ascertain the progress they have made and how to support them through aftercare programmes. Our collaboration extends to various training programs, from sensitization initiatives to prevention modules Notably, we have trained organisations like BACK2BACK-a non-profit organisation that focuses on providing holistic care for orphaned children, on the drug prevention module. More recently, we have worked with the DSS Land school to provide basic drug education training for its staff.

We view our work as a “calling,” recognizing the challenges faced by drug dependents because these challenges mirror our own stories. Therefore, we are committed to providing the safe space that we ourselves have graciously received, to support individuals with drug use disorders as they embark on their own journeys of recovery.

Khirana healthcare and Social enterprise is an organization with an ambitious mission: to positively impact the lives of individuals in Sub-Saharan Africa affected by drugs and associated problems.
